Pride Month: make way for Nice’s Pink Parade

June is fast approaching, and it’s almost time for Pride Month. An opportunity to celebrate different sexual orientations and gender identities. We explain the concept.

This event commemorates the Stonewall riots that took place in June 1969 in New York, a major turning point in the history of the LGBTQ+ movement forrights and equality.

Pride Month provides a platform to highlight the struggles and achievements of the LGBTQ+ community, and to promote inclusion, diversity and tolerance. It’s a time when LGBTQ+ people and their allies come together in parades, demonstrations, conferences, arts and cultural activities, and many other events that celebrate LGBTQ+ identity and history.

But Pride Month is much more than just a celebration. It’s also a time to raise awareness of the reality of the challenges facing the LGBTQ+ community, including discrimination, stigma, violence and inequality. It’s an opportunity to make marginalized voices heard, and to continue campaigning for equal rights, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity.

The pink parade in Nice

On Sunday June 23, 2024 at 4pm, the Parade de Nice – known as the Pink Parade– will take place. The parade has been taking to the streets every July since 2004. Inspired by“gay pride” and other similar events, this march aims to unite the LGBTQ+ community and its allies in a festive and convivial event, while helping to raise awareness and change attitudes towards a better understanding of human diversity.

Nice’s Pink Parade embodies respect for sexual diversity and the freedom to love, while highlighting important social issues such as access to PMA for female couples, recognition of homoparental families, and the need to reform blood donation laws to ensure equal rights.

Although progress has been made, there are still many battles to be fought to guarantee equal rights and inclusion for all, and the Nice Pink Parade is committed to continuing to be a driving force for change and demands for a fairer, more inclusive society.

The evening

At the close of the parade, don’t miss the“Pink Drink” party, starting at 7pm at the Théâtre De Verdure, on the Promenade Des Anglais. The party promises an electric atmosphere, with DJs, dance performances and non-stop entertainment until the wee hours of the morning.

If you’re looking to prolong the magic, why not book a room in a gay-friendly hotel? Our gay-friendly hotel welcomes you and will be proud to wear the colors of Pride Month.
