And most importantly, these mountains aren\u2019t just a distant backdrop: in less than two hours by car, you\u2019re there.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s one of the Riviera\u2019s most overlooked sides. A region where moving from sea to snow is easy, sometimes driven by nothing more than a spontaneous desire. Among the most accessible resorts from Nice, three stand out. The first is also the most obvious place to start.<\/p>\n

Valberg \u2014 A family-friendly resort, reached by a remarkable road<\/h3>\n

Getting to Valberg already feels like a change of pace.
The road gradually leaves the city behind and winds into the Cians Valley, famous for its red rock formations and contrasting landscapes. Even in winter, the colors remain. The ascent is gentle and continuous, more like a natural transition than a break.<\/p>\n

Valberg then reveals itself effortlessly.
A clear, easy-to-navigate resort, human in scale. Nothing overwhelming, nothing complicated. Everything here is designed so everyone can find their place especially families, whether they come to ski or simply enjoy the snow.<\/p>\n

The ski area is accessible, ideal for beginners and intermediate skiers. And above all, there\u2019s no obligation to put on skis to enjoy the mountains. Sledding, walks, playing in the snow days fill naturally, at everyone\u2019s own rhythm.<\/p>\n

Valberg also works perfectly for a quieter getaway.
Some even use skiing and the mountains as an excellent excuse to gather around a good raclette, a warm brazier, or a lunch that stretches longer than planned. Restaurants like Le Refuge<\/em> or L\u2019\u00c9table<\/em> play a big part in this \u2014 and, honestly, they\u2019re sometimes reason enough for the trip, even without skis.<\/p>\n

In Valberg, the mountains remain welcoming.
And the road, far from being just a means to an end, is already part of the experience.<\/p>\n

Auron \u2014 More skiing, more dining, more freedom<\/h3>\n

Reaching Auron means adopting a different tempo.
The road climbs through the Tin\u00e9e Valley, wider and more open, with that pleasant feeling of truly leaving the coast behind. You gain altitude, the landscapes expand, and winter settles in more clearly.<\/p>\n

Auron then asserts itself as a larger, more structured resort, with a ski area that offers real range.
Intermediate and advanced skiers will find plenty of variety: long runs, greater vertical drop, smooth transitions. You ski longer, farther, with a sense of space that makes all the difference.<\/p>\n

But Auron also has a much-appreciated talent: knowing how to eat well even between runs.
Slope-side restaurants allow you to take a break without ever breaking the rhythm of the day. Here again, skiing is always a good excuse to linger over a beautiful plate, and a first run started at 10:30 can easily stretch until 4:00 p.m.<\/p>\n

And that may be Auron\u2019s greatest strength :
a resort that combines a true playground for ski enthusiasts\u2026
with a simple, warm art of living, free of complications.<\/p>\n

In Auron, people come to ski more but often stay for everything else.<\/p>\n

Isola 2000 \u2014 Skiing, above all else<\/h3>\n

Isola 2000 is a regional essential.
You don\u2019t come here to find a traditional mountain image, but to enjoy a vast, well-exposed ski area designed above all for skiing.<\/p>\n

The resort, more modern in its architecture, is built for efficiency.
The ski area is large and varied, with a greater vertical drop and better exposure, making it a reliable choice when you\u2019re looking for good snow conditions throughout the season.<\/p>\n

Isola 2000 naturally appeals to intermediate and advanced skiers those who want to link runs, vary routes, and make the most of the day without too many interruptions. Here, you ski more and stop less and that\u2019s exactly what its regulars appreciate.<\/p>\n

Perhaps less typical than other resorts in the area, Isola 2000 more than makes up for it with the quality and reliability of its terrain.
A straightforward, unapologetic resort for those who come above all to experience the mountains in their most athletic form.<\/p>\n
